Blackpool: A fair place where aspiration and ambition are encouraged.

Blackpool Council is a unitary authority in the North West. With seven miles of coastline to look after and a population of 140,000 in a relatively small urban area, local public services are very much in demand and at the heart of all major initiatives.

From securing investment in the visitor economy to providing essential services for a population of older people and families, Blackpool is a busy authority with some established partnerships with Lancashire Police, the local NHS, businesses and local people.

The Council really is unique as it is responsible for running a tramway service, the world famous Illuminations and regenerating the iconic Blackpool Tower and Winter Gardens to help secure the future of the resort and ensure our 13 million visitors keep coming back for more.

But the Council also faces some tough challenges as some of the most deprived wards in the country are nestled in the borough with all the social challenges they bring.

Investment in education through Building Schools for the Future and regeneration schemes transforming large areas of town and the seafront are helping improve the area for future generations.

Transport links are excellent with the town being served by its own international airport, two train stations on the West Coast Main Line and an excellent motorway link through the M55 which joins the M6. Accommodation remains competitively priced with some quality Victorian homes dominating the area.

With Championship Football, the Pleasure Beach Resort, and miles of golden sands, there has never been a better time to make the move to Blackpool.

Thank you for your interest in working for Blackpool Council and good luck with your application.
